Sony has announced an Xperia product launch event on May 17, where the new Xperia 1 VI flagship smartphone is expected to be unveiled. Some details about this smartphone have already surfaced online.

The report states that the Xperia 1 VI flagship smartphone is expected to measure 161.9×74.5×8.4 mm, with a slight increase in width and thickness compared to the Xperia 1 V due to the change in aspect ratio. The device will move away from the 21:9 aspect ratio of previous models and will now adopt a larger 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It is said to have a 2K + or Quad HD + screen with a resolution of approximately 3200 × 1440 pixels, unlike the 4K screens in previous models.

There were conflicting reports regarding optics. The initial report suggests that the Xperia 1 VI will feature a triple camera setup that will use three 48-megapixel Exmor T sensors, meaning the main, ultrawide and telephoto cameras will feature Sony’s most advanced camera sensor.

On the other hand, a recent report confirmed these claims by saying that the Xperia 1 VI will have a 48 MP, f/1.9, 24 mm, 1/1.35 primary camera paired with a 12 MP, f/2.2, 16 mm, 1/2 ultra-wide camera.
