Apple fired its marketing manager due to low sales of Vision Pro: He worked for 36 years

Casanova held various positions at Apple and participated in the promotion of various products. In 2019, he took on the role of Apple’s first head of augmented reality marketing before moving on to oversee development of the headset.

But Vision Pro comes at a price $3499 It failed to meet Apple’s sales forecasts. Analysts, including Ming-Chi Kuo, note a significant reduction in the company’s supply plans.

There are also indications that Apple may delay the release of the updated version of the headset, which was originally planned for 2025 but is currently not expected until 2027. This delay is due to the need for a significant redesign to increase the product’s appeal to consumers.

The Vision Pro era did not happen

In early 2024, Apple released the long-awaited Vision Pro augmented reality headset. Looking at the few months the device has been on the market, one could argue that it wasn’t a huge success, although Apple may not be counting on the incredible popularity of the product.

Despite interesting, entertaining and even impressive videos from owners and techno enthusiasts on the use of Vision Pro, in practice it turned out that the device is quite inconvenient and needs to be improved. Additionally, the product has received many criticisms regarding its form factor, autonomy, and other usage aspects.

Although to the average user the Vision Pro seems like a pretty successful device, Apple was clearly counting on the greater popularity of the headset. Despite the loud declarations of critics, the Vision Pro was nothing groundbreaking or revolutionary. This requires more time, development and iteration of the device, but Apple doesn’t seem happy with the results of the release.
