Xiaomi announces high production figures for the SU7 model, a month after the launch of its first electric car. The company says these production volumes are supported by an encouraging number of orders.

We saw the first Xiaomi SU7 model in November 2023. As market experts predicted at the time, Xiaomi wanted to attract potential buyers from its existing customer base of 20 million smartphone users in China by offering a seamless system between the SU7 and other Xiaomi devices. That’s exactly what happened.

Within the first 27 minutes after the cars go on sale, the manufacturer 50,000 orders, creating a waiting list of up to seven months. This forced Xiaomi to rethink its production strategy and release more SU7s than originally planned to meet demand. Although Xiaomi is new to electric cars, the company appears to be benefiting from its manufacturing experience and assembly lines in China are running at full capacity.
