Mi 11 Lite became the most affordable device of the Mi 11 series. The device was released by Xiaomi in the first half of 2021. It was announced in two variants: 4G and 5G. Both models have the same technical specifications except for the chipset.
Xiaomi had recently stopped software support for the 4G model. The 5G version is also expected to suffer a similar fate in the near future. If you own this phone, you may be wondering whether you need to upgrade your device.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite, as its name suggests, is a thin and light smartphone. The device was the lightest 5G phone at launch. Both the 4G and 5G models are only 6.8mm thick. However, the 4G version is slightly lighter, weighing 157 grams compared to the 159 grams of the 5G version.
The device also has a premium build. It features a glass sandwich design complete with a plastic frame. The cameras don’t stand out too much like most smartphones today. So it is not only smooth and light, but also clean.
The internal components of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite were the best available for its price at the time of launch. The 4G model has the most powerful mid-range chip i.e. Snapdragon 732G. The 5G variant has the Snapdragon 780G processor.
These chipsets are coupled with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. The specs may seem dated these days, but the device is fast enough for day-to-day operations, although it’s slower than newer products.
The 6.55-inch FHD+ OLED display can play HDR content. However, it is limited to a 90Hz refresh rate, currently 120Hz is the standard.
The phone, which is a thin and light smartphone, has a small 4,250mAh battery with 33W charging. Durability is therefore relatively lower compared to new products, especially for a battery that has been subjected to multiple charge cycles over the years.
Finally, the cameras are capable, but they lag behind the latest model phones in terms of both hardware and image processing. However, it has a 5-megapixel telephoto camera that no other smartphone offers today.
Both 4G and 5G variants of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite are still available in 2024. In fact, you can continue to use the phone for at least a few more years. For an overall better experience, we recommend users replace the battery. This is highly recommended for people who have been using the phone since launch.
The 4G variant will no longer receive software updates. We expect the same for the 5G version soon. In any case, the device currently runs Android 13. So there won’t be any app compatibility issues for the next few years.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite can be used without any problems even though its software support has ended. But there are a few reasons why you might want to upgrade to a newer phone. Depending on your needs, you may have purchased Mi 11 Lite. But your needs may change over the years.
So if you want a more powerful device with better cameras, longer battery life, and faster charging support, you can upgrade to a newer smartphone. However, if you are happy with the experience, we don’t see any reason to switch phones.
