The new generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 flagship mobile processor is expected to arrive this fall. While leaks about its technical specifications and performance have been circulating for months, the new device casts doubt on previous tests.

A new leak from a digital chat station reveals that previously published benchmarks are based on low-frequency engineering samples of the 8th Gen 4. But this is not unusual; Early silicon processors generally run at lower speeds for stability testing purposes.

But it suggests that the numbers we’ve seen so far may not be indicative of final performance.

New details shared by the tipster also reveal that the latest version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 has a “2+6” core architecture. The “2” likely refers to a pair of high-performance cores clocked between 3.6GHz and 4.0GHz.

Although the consultant does not share clock frequency details, it is likely that the other “6” cores are efficient cores. With all this, it is claimed that the chip received approximately 2,700 points in single-core and 10,000 points in multi-core tests in Geekbench 6.

The leak also predicts that the first smartphone with the new chip will be released in mid-October. Xiaomi and OnePlus are often among the first brands to use Qualcomm’s latest high-end processors. In fact, it is said that Xiaomi will launch the Xiaomi 15 series in October, which could be the first phone of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

Meanwhile, OnePlus will also pack the chip in its upcoming flagship OnePlus 13. Rumors currently suggest that the design of the smartphone will be changed, with a possible move away from the brand’s signature rear camera setup in favor of a multi-layered camera system.
