Counterpoint Research has published a list of the ten best-selling phones worldwide in the first quarter of 2024. The consulting firm notes an interesting trend: an increase in interest in premium phones priced at more than $600.

When we talk about premium mobile phone sales in the market for years, we inevitably talk about one brand: Apple. It is the absolute queen in this segment, and according to last year’s data, more than seven out of every ten phones sold in the upper segment are iPhones.

CounterPoint data shows zero surprises: the list is almost identical to last year’s, with some differences. The world’s best-selling model in the first quarter of 2023 was the iPhone 14, the entry model of the Apple family. The second best-selling model was the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

In the first quarter of 2024, the situation changes: the world’s best-selling mobile phone was the iPhone 15 Pro Max, followed by the iPhone. The Pro model continues to take third place. Once again, the four best-selling phones in the ranking belong to Apple. The iPhone 14 even sneaks into the fourth spot, a model that’s more than a year old.

The data Counter Point reflects on Apple’s Pro family is relevant: The Pro iPhone series accounts for half of total iPhone sales, and there is a 24% increase in this series since 2020.

Samsung lands fifth place with the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, the only real candidate on sale in the high-end Android range. It is followed by its largest counterpart, the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G. This entry-level model is the sixth best-selling model, followed by the Galaxy A54.
