Such different tablets

In the last few generations of the iPad Pro, there was a significant difference between the 11-inch and 13-inch models that many buyers didn’t know about. The larger model was equipped with significantly better display technology than its smaller version. That changes with the iPad Pro on the M4, as Apple equips both models with the same high-end Ultra Retina XDR display.

However, although it was not announced at launch, Apple still continues to offer two different iPad Pro levels. This time the differences are not related to the screen.

Be careful with data storage

Both the 11-inch and 13-inch M4 iPad Pro are available in the following four storage configurations:

• 256 gigabytes (base model).
• 512 gigabytes ($200 more than base).
• 1 terabyte ($600 more than basic).
• 2 terabytes ($1000 more than baseline).

You can see switching between different memory options is too expensivelike doubling normal storage. If the difference between 256 and 512 gigabytes is 200 US dollars, then between 512 and 1 terabyte – 400 US dollars, and also between one and two terabytes. What is the reason? This is because Apple does not say that with the increase in the amount of memory, some other indicators also increase – RAM, processor parameters and others.

Once you reach the 1TB level and above, you get more RAM, CPU cores, and can add the nano-textured glass option.

• The 256GB and 512GB variants come with 8GB RAM and 9 processor cores and cannot be configured with nano-textured glass.
• The 1 TB and 2 TB variants have 16 GB RAM, 10 processor cores and can get nano-textured glass.

How to choose

If you are buying an iPad Pro over the M4, you must first determine for what purpose you need this tablet.

If you’re doing a lot of heavy lifting on your iPad, like multi-stream 4K video editing, you’re probably better off future-proofing your device and upgrading to higher memory levels. The extra memory alone may be enough, but other benefits make the upgrade even more attractive.

Unless your iPad Pro workflows require a lot of RAM, you probably won’t notice any difference when switching to one of the lower-end Pro models.
