Xiaomi entered the foldable smartphone market with the Mi Mix Fold in March 2021, but has not yet released a foldable smartphone. Xiaomi has been reportedly developing a dial-up device since last January. Now, this new smartphone called Xiaomi Mix Flip seems to be getting closer to launch as it has gone through important certification processes like China’s 3C. Here’s what to expect from this future clamshell.
1. Large screen with cover and ultra-thin bezels
While the brand hasn’t revealed what the Mix Flip will look like, a newly released image of the smartphone confirms that it will feature a large screen with a cover and a rectangular camera island on top. There will be two camera holes on the back of the flip phone.
The main screen is said to have ultra-thin bezels, but the detailed specifications of the screen are still hidden. However, it is said to have 1.5K resolution. As for the hinge, Xiaomi may also use the same.
2. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or 8 Gen 3?
Although initial reports stated that the Mix Flip would come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, this made sense at the time since the brand’s premium Mix Fold 3 also used this chip. However, it looks like Xiaomi will offer the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip in the Flip 3. We expect the chip to be paired with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, as Xiaomi looks like it won’t cut corners with its upcoming new model. oyster shell.
3. Premium camera setup
The camera setup on the Mix Flip will include premium sensors such as Sony’s Light Hunter 800 for the 50MP main camera and the Omnivision OV60A sensor for the 60MP 2x optical zoom camera.
Although they are not exactly flagship sensors, the LYT800, especially the Type 1” sensor, feels quite high quality. Additionally, the recently released live image of the device features the Leica logo, which means that the famous German camera company is working to optimize and improve the Mix Flip’s camera system.
4. Big battery and fast charging
Reports suggest that Xiaomi plans to equip the Mix Flip with a 4,800mAh or 4,900mAh battery. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Flip has a 3,700 mAh battery, while the Oppo Find N3 Flip and Vivo X Flip have 4,300 mAh and 4,400 mAh batteries, respectively. This means the Mix Flip may offer slightly longer battery life, but the difference may be small given its more powerful chip.
In addition, Mix Flip also stands out with its fast charging features because 3C certification confirms 67W fast charging support, which is higher than other clamshell phones.
5. Satellite connection
Tipster DCS reported that the upcoming Xiaomi Mix Flip will have satellite connectivity. So we can expect the device to offer two-way messaging via satellite and the ability to send SOS signals in emergency situations.
