ASUS launched the ROG 8 series in January this year. Although the launch of the ROG 9 series is still months away, it has surfaced online for the first time with model number ASUSAI2501C. According to a report by Android Headlines, the ROG 9 series will consist of two models, ROG 9 and ROG 9 Pro, and could arrive in the first quarter of 2025. However, it is not clear which model the number above represents.
Like many other 2024 flagships, it will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, which will be released later this year.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 was previously known to have a clock speed of over 4.00 GHz. According to Weibo Tipster Digital Chat Station, the prototype sample of the SM8750 reached a clock speed of 4.2 GHz and scored 3K and 10K in single and multi-core tests, respectively. He said Dimension 9400 is currently under pressure.
Its score is higher than Apple A17 Pro. What’s surprising is that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 prototype (which means it can be improved) outperforms the A17 Pro in the single-core test.
Speaking of Asus’ gaming device, it will most likely focus on performance and use a better cooling system to keep it running during long gaming sessions. In addition to the latest chipset, the ROG 9 series is also expected to feature launch buttons for a better gaming experience.
While we don’t know much about the ROG 9 series at this point, here’s what the previous series has to offer to give you an idea of what to expect when it comes to other aspects of the phone.
ROG Phone 8 and 8 Pro are equipped with RGB logo illumination and programmable Mini-LED matrix respectively. On the front, there is a 165Hz FHD + LTPO AMOLED panel that reaches 2500 nits. The base model offers 12 or 16 GB of RAM, while the Pro model has 16 or 24 GB of RAM. It works with 256GB UFS 4.0 storage for the base model and 512GB/1TB storage for the Pro model.
Both had a 50-megapixel primary camera on the back paired with a 32-megapixel 3x telephoto lens and a 13-megapixel 13mm ultra-wide camera.
