Honor confirmed yesterday that it will announce the Honor Magic V Flip in China on June 13. Although the company has confirmed its configurations, there is no clarity on the chipset. Xiaomi is reportedly developing its first foldable phone in parallel Xiaomi Mix Flip. In a recent post on Weibo, tipster Digital Chat Station explained how these phones will target the Chinese market.

What can be expected from Honor Magic V Flip and Xiaomi Mix Flip?

The Weibo post above suggests that Vivo and Oppo, referred to as “blue” and “green”, have stopped updating their small foldable phones. This means that neither brand may be planning to release a foldable phone this year. Last year, both brands launched Vivo X Flip and Oppo Find N3 Flip. However, their next release is unlikely to be released in 2024.

At the same time, brands like Honor and Xiaomi are also pushing new offerings like the Honor Magic V Flip and Xiaomi Mix Flip. DCS said the devices share a perforated design for large outdoor displays, but their product positioning is different.

The Honor Magic V Flip is aimed at female consumers, with its highest configuration offering 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage and focusing on adequate performance rather than peak performance. The brand has already confirmed that it will also be available in two other models such as 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB. Reports have revealed that the device will have a 4,800mAh battery, 66W fast charging and a 50MP primary camera. It will be available in black, white and pink colours.

Xiaomi, on the other hand, positions its upcoming model as a pure flagship. According to reports, the device will have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, 50MP + 60MP (2x telephoto) dual rear camera setup, 32MP front camera and 67W fast charging.
