Apple has announced a list of devices that will not receive new versions of their operating system (OS). This was reported by the company’s website.
According to Apple, iOS 16 will be available on all smartphones of the brand, starting with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus and the second-generation iPhone SE. It follows that the new operating system will not be released for the first generation iPhone 7 and iPhone SE introduced in 2016. Thus, the company actually confirmed that these devices will be considered obsolete.
Announced on the first day of the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), iPadOS 16 will receive all iPad Pro as well as fifth-generation iPad, fifth-generation iPad mini, third-generation iPad Air and newer devices. Introduced at the same event, watchOS 9 can be installed on all smartwatches starting with Apple Watch Series 4.
A new version of macOS called Ventura will be available for download on iMac and iMac Pro 2017, MacBook Pro 2017, MacBook Air 2018, Mac Pro 2019, Mac Studio 2022, Mac mini 2018, MacBook 2017 and newer computers.
Right after the OS was announced, beta versions of iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, and macOS Ventura went live. General versions of the operating system will be available to users by the end of the year.
