We have been hearing for a long time that Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 and Mix Flip are being developed. At the end of last month, Xiaomi filed 8 trademarks related to the foldable display, including both a clamshell and a foldable book. This suggests possible improvements to the assembly mechanism of future Xiaomi foldable devices. Mix Fold 4 is expected to be released in China in the third quarter of 2024, possibly in July or August.

Although the application does not give much information about Xiaomi’s developments, the foldable new generation Mix Fold 4 has already been spotted on a certification platform and some important details have emerged. According to MIIT certification, this device supports NR SA/NR NSA/TD-LTE/LTE FDD/WCDMA/CDMA 1X/GSM standard. It also supports eMBB network technology and Tiantong satellite connection. Mix Fold 4 will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.

Speaking of Xiaomi Mix Flip, it will be the first foldable device in flip style. The phone’s appearance in the IMEI database implies that the phone will be released outside of China. It’s notable that a larger, foldable book-style device has yet to be seen on a similar certification platform. Previous reports indicate that the Mix Fold 4 may launch in China only.

Coming back to the Mix Flip, renders and prototype images show a slightly smaller external display separate from the camera module. There is a dual camera setup that is said to include a 50-megapixel primary and a 60-megapixel 2x telephoto using a 1/2.61-inch OV60A sensor.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 4, on the other hand, is expected to feature a 1/1.55″ 50MP OV50E for the main camera, a 1/3.06″ 13MP OV13B ultra-wide camera, and a 1/2.61″ 60MP OV60A for 2x telephoto (same as the Mix Flip).
