Previously, users could only pin programs to the taskbar from the All Programs list, not from the Pinned section of the Start menu. While the shortcut animation isn’t very good right now, Microsoft is expected to improve it before the feature becomes generally available.
Despite these improvements, the ability to pin folders to the taskbar is still missing. Microsoft has classified this feature as a niche feature that is generally useful for advanced users, but it remains a significant convenience for those accustomed to this feature in Windows 10.
What else will change
In the new structure, the “All Apps” list has also changed. Microsoft tried a modern layout by eliminating the alphabetical search function. However, the traditional alphabetical listing has been restored, although it is now presented horizontally rather than vertically.
Additionally, the All Apps list now supports displaying folders that expand seamlessly when selected, thanks to the implementation of improved animations.
The new build hints at more customization options for the taskbar. Although not yet fully live, these options promise that users will soon be able to hide the notification bell icon or display only the time without the current date.
Additionally, when you right-click on a pinned program in the Start menu, you will see a list of quick navigation sections if the program supports this option.
