The next race took place in April 2024, but the video report on the competition was released only on June 26. The author of the YouTube channel Matt Farah personally sat behind the wheel of the Yale, which was released in 1902. This is one of the cars in the museum’s permanent collection.

How was it?

Calling this a race would of course be an exaggeration, because old cars cannot reach high speeds. The Audrain Museum prefers to call this event simply a “tour.”

You can see in the frame that some copies were made in 1904 or 1907. Most have no roof, start with a swivel mechanism at the front instead of a driver’s seat, and drive so slowly that they would be unbearable by today’s standards.

The car that reached the author of the video 122 years ago can be called powerful. He has 16 horsepower, two gears, reverse gear, brakes and even are used regularly. The car reached a maximum speed of 17 kilometers per hour under its own traction and 41 kilometers per hour when going downhill, but at that moment it was shaking more than usual.
