What happened

The boat was pulled by a large tractor, and at one point the driver had to pass through a tunnel under two runways at the Los Angeles airport.

After travelling a reasonable distance through the tunnel, it apparently began to narrow and the top of the yacht suddenly touched the ceiling. As the truck continued to move, the yacht entered an increasingly narrow space and became trapped.

Fortunately, the yacht was successfully removed from the tunnel:

The ship’s size was too large to pass through the tunnel, causing traffic to come to a standstill. LAPD officers had to close off available traffic lanes, carefully back up, and eventually return the ship to the Imperial Highway.

Police added that the “unusual” incident left bystanders “in shock and laughter” as they watched the adventure unfold in an unusual urban environment for boats.

Police said they managed to push the valuable cargo back by pushing the truck carrying the boat backwards. It is unclear how much damage the yacht suffered from the collision with the tunnel ceiling, but it is clear that it was unable to continue on the same path and was therefore escorted back to its original departure point. It is also not known who owned the oversized boat.
