Neuralink is working to resolve issues that arose during the initial implantation. The initial procedure had issues with some electrodes shifting due to the brain’s natural movement. To counter this, future procedures will use brain folds to better anchor the electrodes and place the implant flush with the scalp for stability.

Musk also highlighted the possibility of upgrades to brain implants that would allow patients to upgrade their devices as needed. He responded to criticism of Neuralink’s ethical standards by emphasizing that the company takes great care with the animals used in testing.

This was done following previous allegations of improper handling of biowaste and inhumane treatment of experimental animals.
