Meet the Honor Magic V3 with flagship features

Along with the launch of the Honor Magic Vs 3, the brand also introduced the Magic V3 foldable phone. This is the more premium model of the two new devices. It has flagship-level specs and is significantly lower than the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Fold 6. The Magic V3 comes as the successor to the Magic V2, which was hailed as the world’s thinnest horizontal foldable phone last year. However, the brand is not stopping there with the latest offering as it has made the device lighter and thinner. Read on to know all about it below.

Honor Magic V3 Features

Honor has outdone itself once again by making the Magic V3 lighter than its predecessor. Its dimensions are 9.2mm when folded (without the camera bump) and 4.35mm when unfolded. The weight has been reduced to just 226 grams. The reduction in size is commendable and puts this foldable phone on par with many phones in the panel. The brand claims that the device’s hinge is its thinnest to date at 2.84mm. It is designed for 500,000 cycles.

The Honor Magic V3 has a protruding octagonal camera island on the back. The power button doubles as an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. It also has a 7-series aluminum alloy frame. The device is IPX8 certified for water resistance up to 2.5 meters.

As for the display, the Honor Magic V3 has a 6.43-inch main display with curved edges that offers FHD+ resolution. Inside, there’s a 7.92-inch display with a resolution of 2344×2156 pixels. Both displays feature 120Hz LTPO, Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid, and pen support. Honor says the device offers a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, but it’s unclear if that number applies to both displays.

In the photography department, the Honor Magic V3 has a triple primary camera. It consists of a 50-megapixel 1/1.56-inch main sensor with optical image stabilization, a 40-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 50-megapixel periscopic telephoto lens with 100x digital zoom and optical image stabilization. The device is equipped with a 20-megapixel sensor built into the inner and outer displays for selfies and video calling. Honor said that the portrait mode will be released in August, according to Harcourt.

The Honor Magic V3 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor under the hood and has up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Despite the slim profile, the brand has also included a titanium heat dissipation system inside. The foldable phone houses a 5150mAh battery that supports 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. In terms of software, it runs on MagicOS 8 with various AI features, smart private call, parallel space, etc.

The Honor Magic V3 also supports two-way satellite communication, allowing you to send messages via satellite when there is no cellular network. It also has an RF enhancement chip to strengthen the network and a built-in security chipset.

The Honor Magic V3 starts at 8,999 yuan ($1,240) for the 12+256GB model. The 16GB+512GB and 16GB+1TB configurations are priced at 9,999 yuan ($1,380) and 10,999 yuan ($1,516), respectively. The device is available in Silk Road Dunhuang (brown), Qilian Snow (white), Tundra Green, Velvet Black. The foldable phone is expected to reach international markets just like its predecessor.
