Sony’s new ZV series camera with APS-C sensor delivers features and enhancements ideal for content creators.

Updated lens The SELP 16502 is a perfect match for the new ZV-E10M2 thanks to its compact size, versatile range and ideal stabilization for selfies.

Sony Electronics introduces the new ZV-E10M2, the second generation of the market’s best-selling ZV-E10 mirrorless camera.[1]The original ZV-E10 is the entry-level APS-C camera in Sony’s ZV series of content creators, designed to be a simple, compact and versatile tool for all types of users. The new ZV-E10M2 includes all the features that the creators of the original loved, including a creative look, product showcase adjustment and background defocus, a foldable vari-angle display and a design that offers greater sophistication and ease of use.

Compared to its predecessor, the ZV-E10M2 features improved internal hardware with a 26-megapixel (approximately effective) Exmor™ CMOS sensor and Sony’s latest BIONZ XR™ image processor. Additional upgrades to this model include improved autofocus and video capabilities: Cinematic vlogging setup.[2]a new vertical format user interface (UI), an updated high-capacity Sony Z series battery that provides greater durability and improved connectivity for easier live streaming and data transfer. The new camera is compact and lightweight, fits perfectly in the creator’s hand and weighs approximately 377 grams.[3].

Sony is also including the SELP 16502 lens, a compact APS-C electronic zoom lens, in this version that will be available separately or as part of a kit for the ZV-E10M2 camera. The lens is lightweight and offers improved autofocus (AF) and video capabilities compared to the previous model.

“At Sony, we are committed to continuing to innovate and create tools that help content creators share their photographic vision with the world,” – commented Angelo Marconi, regional manager of Sony’s digital imaging department. “The ZV-E10M2 and its ability to record 10-bit 4:2:2, 4K at 60p and live stream over Wi-Fi, plus exceptional ease of use, like the new interface that automatically rotates from horizontal to vertical to capture everything from any angle, make it the perfect tool for content creators.”

Take photos and videos in a unique style

The ZV-E10M2 includes two key features designed for premium content creation directly from the camera: Creative Look and Cinematic Vlog Customization. When recording videos and photos, users can instantly enhance their images by choosing from ten Creative Look options: Standard (ST), Portrait (PT), Neutral (NT), Neutral, Vivid (VV), Vivid 2 (VV2), Film (FL), Instant (IN), Soft High Key (SH), Black & White (BW) (Black & White), and Sepia (SE) (Sepia). Each of these aspects can be adjusted and edited with eight different parameters, helping creators enhance their content. Once customized, creators can save up to six custom looks directly in the camera for easy re-use.

The ZV-E10M2 enables users to create premium cinematic-quality video content with the touch of a button using the Cinematic Vlog Setting function. This function automatically adjusts the aspect ratio, frame rate, and AF transition speed for optimal settings and captures cinematic-quality video. They can also enhance their content by choosing from five available Looks, such as S-Cinetone™, which enhances skin tones, or one of four moods, called Moods.[4]), which highlight certain colours to offer ample opportunities to maximise various creative expressions.

Additional features to optimize content creation

• New portrait-oriented user interface that automatically switches from landscape to portrait orientation, making it easier to create content in portrait format. The vari-angle LCD screen allows users to create and view content from any angle.

• With 4K 60p capture and up to 120p capture in crisp XAVC-S Full HD quality, you can record incredible movies in S&Q mode.[5] 5x slow motion (24p playback)

• Product Demo Setup mode records product demo videos with a smooth focus transition between the product and the face of the person presenting it.

• With Background Defocus, you can adjust the depth of field and create a bokeh effect in the background with a simple tap.

• Face-priority auto exposure instantly recognizes faces and adjusts exposure to optimize facial brightness even during active recording in changing lighting conditions.

• Soft Skin Effect softens the appearance and reduces skin imperfections on subjects.

• Seamless connectivity with USB 3.2 Type-C® (SuperSpeed USB 5Gbps) port for high-speed wired transfer to a compatible smartphone or PC via the Creators app for easy post-production and social media sharing.[6].

• Sequences can be created at time intervals.[7] in a camera with an exposure interval of 1 to 60 seconds[8].

• A windscreen is included with the camera to reduce noise when recording in windy conditions.

• Screen reading features[9] which reads menus and video playback screens aloud to help you get started, while Sony Magnify Display offers accessibility solutions.

Projects that respect the environment

The ZV-E10M2 camera body is made from recycled materials including SORPLAS™. [10]to reduce environmental impact without compromising functionality. Individual packaging is made from Sony’s exclusive recycled paper (Original Mixed Material), which combines materials such as bamboo, sugarcane fiber and recycled paper collected from the market. Over the past 11 years, Sony has replaced approximately 395 tons of virgin plastic with recycled plastic in digital cameras and camcorders.

Key Features of the New SELP16502 Universal Lens

The SELP 16502 is a Sony E-mount 75° lens and an ideal accessory for the new ZV-E10M2 thanks to its compact size and versatile range (35mm full-frame equivalent focal length: 24-75mm). This lens delivers high resolution thanks to an efficient optical design that includes four aspherical elements and one ED element. With a minimum focusing distance of 9.8″ (0.25m) (wide)/11.8″ (0.30m) (telephoto) and a maximum magnification of 0.215x, the SELP 16502 delivers versatile performance that lets you capture every detail in close-up shots. Additionally, when the camera is turned off, the SELP 16502 retracts to a total length of approximately 1.25″ (31.3mm). With its small size and light weight (approx. 107 grams), it is an ideal portable lens for all-day shooting.

Powerful and smooth electronic zoom, ideal for recording video. AF is available even when zoomed in. Optical stabilization works with the integrated stabilization system.[11]which includes an active mode to minimize blur when recording video. To achieve stable and smooth video, the SELP 16502 lens supports breathing compensation.[12] which minimizes the change in viewing angle when focusing.
