What happened
While Tesla pickups are being vandalized by Elon Musk haters in the US, electric cars are being vandalized by environmental activists in Europe. While it may seem strange that climate activists would target a company that makes electric cars, Tesla has a lot of problems with them in Europe, especially in Germany, where it is building a massive factory.
A group of climate activists have been actively trying to stop the construction of Tesla’s massive factory in Berlin for years, supposedly to protect the local ecosystem, and even recently occupied the forest where Tesla plans to expand the factory. Even the presence of a World War II bomb there did not deter many of them from leaving the area while the munitions were being destroyed.
These environmentalists are so radical generally opposed to any personal vehicle, including electric onesBut they’re eyeing the Cybertruck for more specific reasons.
While it’s not available in Europe and probably never will be, Tesla has been touring Europe with the Cybertruck for the past few months. Last week, the truck was on display in Hamburg when the presentation was interrupted by climate activists who threw paint at the Cybertruck.
Activist Hendrik Fauer explained why climate activists do not like the Cybertruck:
“Since the Cybertruck weighs almost three tons, that means that weight consumes a lot of energy. It’s a pointless waste that we as a society cannot afford. Add to that the sharp design: a security disaster. The truck perfectly illustrates what it is. The antisocial policies of the past few decades have brought us to this situation: a few rich people driving a well-armored car into disaster and taking everyone with them,” Fauer said.
Tesla was apparently able to quickly clean up the truck and continue its promotion in Germany. It is not known if any charges will be brought against the activists.
