For more than 30 years, Dyson has built a world-class team with extensive knowledge of acoustics and noise reduction techniques.
The new Dyson Ontrac cancels noise up to 384,000 times per second, reducing noise levels by up to 40 dB. Plus, they offer up to 55 hours of immersive sound, which is up to two weeks. use.
Dyson’s mission in audio is to preserve the integrity of the artist’s sound wave without interference.
Dyson is known for pioneering new technologies and innovating in unexpected areas, which is why it’s introducing the Dyson Ontrac, its first high-quality headphones designed for audio only. The company’s recent sound research has helped engineers develop tools that prioritise preserving sound with the same fidelity as the original recording or mix, without distortion or noise pollution. Achieving this requires a deep understanding of acoustics and psychoacoustics, which the brand has developed over years of creating products that move air.
Every project begins with fundamental research and scientific innovation. Over 30 years, Dyson has built a world-class team with extensive knowledge of acoustics and noise reduction techniques. The team is constantly evolving, developing sound reproduction technologies, noise reduction and electro-acoustic design.
Jake Dyson, head of engineering, mentions that: “The mission of Dyson audio is to preserve the integrity of the artist’s sound wave, without interference. We also wanted to create headphones that people would appreciate, admire and be proud of. With over 30 years of experience in aeroacoustics, we master the physics of sound. By reducing noise with internal anechoic chambers and expert engineers, we applied and expanded our sound knowledge to the development of Dyson OnTrac hearing aids. Our first on-ear headphones designed for audio only, they offer best-in-class noise cancellation, exceptional sound quality and all-day comfort thanks to unique materials, design and custom fit.”
The Dyson Ontrac has the best noise cancellation in its class thanks to a special algorithm that uses 8 microphones to detect and eliminate external noise, providing greater clarity of sound with frequencies from the lowest 6 Hz to the highest 21,000 Hz. In addition, they offer up to 55 hours of immersive sound, which means up to two weeks of use. On the other hand, the selected materials and ergonomic design guarantee excellent acoustic insulation and long-lasting comfort.
These headphones will be available in four colors (aluminum, copper, ceramic, cinnabar, and black nickel) and will allow the outer covers and earpads to be customized with different shades and finishes for more than 2,000 unique combinations. Users will also be able to expand their capabilities with the MyDyson app, which will include real-time audio tracking, internal and external volume monitoring, and alerts for potentially dangerous levels. The app will also allow people to choose between three custom equalizer modes: Bass BoostNeutral and Enhanced.
With the launch of Dyson Ontrac hearing aids, the luxury company is strengthening its commitment to innovation and technological excellence, expanding its reach beyond hair and home care into the competitive audio market. With improved noise cancellation and exceptional sound quality, this new product reflects the company’s commitment to developing products with advanced technology that meet the needs of its users. Dyson continues to be a pioneer, combining its expertise in aeroacoustics with ergonomic and personal design, offering a superior and unique listening experience.
