Today Xiaomi introduced two new foldable phones, one of which is the brand’s first flip phone, and the other is a fourth-generation book-style horizontal flip phone. Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 It is the successor to last year’s Fold 3. It competes with the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Honor Magic V3 in the market. The latest offering includes some significant upgrades over the previous version.

Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 features

Xiaomi has slightly changed the design of the rectangular rear camera module on the MIX Fold 4. It is larger than the previous model and the bottom edge is now curved. The power button acts as a fingerprint scanner made by Godix. The foldable phone features the company’s proprietary Dragon Bone Engine 2.0 technology, which is said to improve reliability while maintaining its thinness. It has a high-strength T800H carbon fiber architecture to reduce weight. The hinge is claimed to have a lifespan of 500,000 times. In terms of dimensions, the thickness of the device is 9.47mm when folded and 4.59mm when unfolded, which is closer to the Honor Magic V3. The folded phone weighs 226 grams. It also has an IPX8 waterproof rating.

The external main display of the Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 has a diagonal of 6.56 inches with square edges. At the same time, the internal display has a diagonal of 7.98 inches with a resolution of 2488 x 2224 pixels. Both displays feature an OLED panel for immersive viewing, a 120Hz refresh rate, a maximum brightness of 3000 nits, HDR10+, HDR Vivid and Dolby Vision. The inner display has an ultra-thin glass with a camera under the screen.

In the photography department, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 is equipped with four Leica rear cameras. The setup consists of a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 50MP portrait telephoto lens with 2x zoom, and finally a 50MP periscope with 5x zoom. The foldable phone is equipped with various Leica features such as filters, photo styles, and more.

In terms of hardware, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The foldable phone is backed by a 5,100mAh battery that can be topped up with wired and 50W wireless charging. There is an ultra-thin VC system on board for heat dissipation. In terms of software, the device comes with HyperOS. There are various AI functions on board. The flip phone is equipped with two-way satellite communication that will allow you to receive and send text messages when cellular network is not available.

The Xiaomi MIX Fold 4 starts at RMB 8,999 (~$1,237) for the base 12GB + 256GB variant. The 16GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB configurations are priced at RMB 9,999 (~$1,375) and RMB 10,999 (~$1,513). The foldable phone is available in black, white, and blue.
