Earlier, Fix Focus Digital had claimed that Huawei is working on a tri-fold phone that is expected to launch in two months. Now, the company itself is backing the launch of the device.
According to a source close to Huawei, the company has indeed started research and development projects on the triple-layer smartphone. It is reported that the company has applied the latest artificial intelligence technology and is currently making smooth progress.
Breaking news from the live broadcast earlier this week. When asked about the development, the company’s general manager, Terminal BG board chairman and Intelligent Automotive Solutions BU board chairman Richard Yu did not deny the development of the three-story device. He said it was inconvenient to disclose any specific progress.
Rumors have it that this device will feature a unique inward and outward folding design and will feature a dual-hinge system. Since it’s a tri-fold device, it’s expected to feature a significantly larger display. It’s expected to be around 10 inches in size, to be precise. For context, the Huawei Mate X5 has a 7.85-inch internal display. Rumors also claim that Huawei could launch the device in September this year, which is the same month the company launched the Mate X5 last year.
At the end of March this year, the State Intellectual Property Office announced a Huawei patent called “Foldable screen device”. According to Huawei, the prototype is basically complete.
Today, a tipster from Weibo Digital Chat Station claimed that the tri-fold device will be powered by the Kirin 9 series chip, marking an industry first.
