Blackmagic Design has recently announced the Blackmagic Camera app for Android devices. Built on the same operating system as Blackmagic digital film cameras, Blackmagic Camera provides Android users with a range of professional tools. It also supports Blackmagic Cloud, enabling seamless collaboration with editors and colorists worldwide.
The app was previously compatible with Pixel and Galaxy devices like the Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, S23 Ultra or Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, S24 Ultra, and the Google Pixel 7, 7a, 7 Pro, 8, and 8 Pro.
The latest news is that the app is now available for Xiaomi and OnePlus users. Today, Blackmagic Design officially announced the release of Blackmagic Camera 1.1 update for Android. Now, more devices will support the app, including Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 14, OnePlus 11, OnePlus 12, Samsung Galaxy S21 and S22, Google Pixel 6, 6 Pro, and 6a.
The new version will allow users to see what they’re shooting on a large screen, which will help them fine-tune focus and exposure. It can also be connected to multiple monitors, so everyone on set can see the footage. The update also adds focus control to the camera, allowing users to change the focus point of the lens during continuous shooting, allowing the focus to be gradually moved between 3 preset focus points in the foreground or background, which can help draw the viewer’s attention to different elements of the image.
This new update also supports syncing media files directly to Blackmagic Cloud Organization accounts, speeding up workflow by allowing customers to choose to sync media files to their personal account or their company organization account when logging in. It also allows the user to darken the screen while recording, apply noise reduction or sharpening to captured images, and use 3D LUTs while recording.
It also allows the user to easily adjust various parameters such as frame rate, shutter angle, white balance, and ISO.
