Samsung’s BioActive Sensor delivers more comprehensive, personalized and accurate health data.
Samsung is innovating in digital health to simplify health and wellness by combining insights and metrics to deliver a more efficient and optimized experience. This approach starts with improving access to simple and accurate health tracking with the Samsung BioActive Sensor, which provides more comprehensive, personalized, and accurate health data.
Samsung is introducing the latest version of its BioActive sensor in the new Galaxy Watch7, which delivers advanced health prediction and prevention capabilities never before seen in a wearable device, as well as more accurate health measurements.[1]
Samsung’s New BioActive Sensor
The BioActive Sensor is essential for more effective preventative health care. With design improvements, it allows you to get even more accurate information about your health. Samsung engineers focused on three upgrades to the new sensor: improving the performance of the light-receiving photodiodes, adding more colors of light-emitting diodes (LEDs), and optimizing their placement throughout the sensor.
Samsung doubled the performance of each photodiode, successfully reducing the number needed to maintain capacity from eight to four. This redesign freed up additional space to integrate more and more LEDs and ensured their ideal placement on the sensor. The new sensor now includes blue, yellow, violet, and ultraviolet LEDs, as well as an increased number of green, red, and infrared LEDs. With the integration and placement of these specially designed LEDs, photodiodes, and photodiodes, the multinational is pushing innovation further and can now tackle unexplored aspects of health monitoring.
Greater precision and new opportunities for health prevention
The optimal placement of green, red and infrared LEDs sets new standards in wearable technology, improving accuracy and delivering exceptional performance across a wide range of health metrics. This allows the new sensor to more accurately measure metrics such as heart rate, sleep quality and blood pressure.[2]; blood oxygenation level and stress level.[3] Even heart rate measurement during intense workouts has become 30% more accurate than its predecessor.
Greater color diversity in LEDs and photodiodes opens up new possibilities and allows for better prediction of trends and preventive measures. The first of these characteristics will be the index of advanced glycation end products (AGE).[4]a measure of metabolic health and biological aging that is heavily influenced by lifestyle and overall dietary habits. Used as an informative biomarker, the index provides insight into your biological age to help you make more informed decisions about your health trajectory and work toward a healthier future. The inclusion of the AGE index is just one of many advanced features planned for the next Galaxy Watch.
Galaxy Watch7 offers more sophisticated, intelligent health and wellness tools to help you achieve your goals.

[2] The Blood Pressure feature is only available in select markets. To ensure accuracy, users must calibrate their device every four weeks using a traditional blood pressure cuff. The PA app cannot diagnose hypertension or other medical conditions, or detect signs of a heart attack. This app can only be used to measure people over 22 years of age. It is not intended to replace traditional diagnostic methods or treatment by a qualified healthcare professional.
[3] Availability of these features may vary by market. Galaxy Watch is intended for general health and fitness purposes only. It is not intended for use in the detection, diagnosis, or treatment of any disease or medical condition.
[4] AGE Index monitoring is only available on the new Galaxy Watch series. Galaxy Watch uses photo sensors that operate within safety limits. However, people with photosensitive skin may experience adverse reactions to light, such as skin discoloration or rash. Do not use this feature if you have symptoms of photosensitivity. IEC62471 AGE Index monitoring is intended for general wellness and fitness purposes only and is not intended to diagnose and/or treat any disease. If you are concerned about your health, please consult a physician.
