Xiaomi confirmed that the series has been confirmed Xiaomi 12 will not receive the long-awaited “Advanced Textures” functionality, which is a key component of the new interface HyperOSThe decision was made after extensive testing revealed a significant balance between visual improvements and overall device performance.

Xiaomi 12 not getting advanced HyperOS texture feature

Xiaomi’s latest operating system, HyperOS, promises an updated visual experience with features like global blur and advanced rendering effects. The advanced texture feature is designed to further enhance these aesthetics and offer users a more immersive and polished interface.

However, Xiaomi developers encountered issues while optimizing the feature for the Xiaomi 12 series. The implementation of advanced textures resulted in a significant decrease in battery life by 10%, a critical indicator for smartphone users. The feature also affected the smoothness of the system, especially in frequently used areas such as the notification drop-down menu, resulting in a performance decrease of more than 10%.

Considering these performance implications, Xiaomi has decided to exclude the Xiaomi 12 series from the Advanced Textures feature. This priority given to battery life and overall system responsiveness is in line with the company’s focus on providing a balanced user experience.

While this news may disappoint fans of the Xiaomi 12 series, it highlights the complexities of balancing visual appeal with practical performance considerations when designing smartphones.

Previously, this feature was exclusive to Xiaomi and Redmi flagship devices equipped with powerful processors, including models like Xiaomi 14, Xiaomi 14 Ultra, Xiaomi 13, and Xiaomi 13 Pro. Xiaomi is currently testing this feature on older and mid-range devices as well and is gradually rolling it out to users on compatible devices worldwide.
