With development almost complete and Google making the final changes, we are nearing the release of Android 15. Unlike the last two iterations, this will be an exciting update packed with lots of new features and improvements (more on that later).
Google is expected to release the stable version of Android 15 in the coming weeks. Those who haven’t joined the beta testing program yet can’t wait to experience the new features and changes. However, as is the case every year, millions of Android devices won’t be able to get the latest Android operating system due to limited software support.
Here, I have compiled a list of Android devices from major brands that will not be receiving the Android 15 update. Check out the list to determine if you need to upgrade to a newer model to take advantage of the latest features and optimizations.

So far, only Google has confirmed which devices will get Android 15 and which ones won’t. Other brands have yet to make it official. Therefore, we had to analyze the software update policies and past versions of other brands to come up with the list above.
If your device isn’t listed above, you’re good to go. However, if you see your device there, schedule the next update to continue getting the latest Android updates.
When will Android 15 be available?
Android 15 has already entered the stable phase of the platform. This is the final phase of development where Google fixes known bugs and other issues and puts the finishing touches on the new operating system to make it ready for the stable release.
While we don’t have an official release date yet, the timeline is similar to last year’s Android 14. So, we expect Google to release the Android 15 stable build around the same time as last year, i.e. early October.
Here’s a quick overview of Android 15’s major milestones:
- Android 15 DP1 — February 16, 2024
- Android 15 DP2 — March 21, 2024
- Android 15 Beta 1 — April 11, 2024
- Android 15 Beta 1.1 — April 22, 2024
- Android 15 Beta 1.2 — April 25, 2024
- Android 15 Beta 2 — May 15, 2024
- Android 15 Beta 2.1 — May 20, 2024
- Android 15 Beta 2.2 — June 3, 2024
- Android 15 Beta 3 — June 18, 2024
- Android 15 Beta 3.1 — July 1, 2024
- Android 15 Beta 4 — July 18, 2024
- Android 15 Beta 4.1 — July 29, 2024
Notably, Google has scheduled its Made by Google event for August 13, where the tech giant will unveil the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, among other products. These upcoming Pixels are expected to come with Android 15 out of the box. This means that Google could release a new operating system at this event.
Once the stable build arrives, it will be rolling out to Google Pixels, and then other brands will quickly follow suit once they’ve made the necessary changes to their own skins. For non-Pixel devices, you can expect the update to come to flagships first, followed by other models.
