In May 2023, Google introduced the Google Pixel Fold, its first smartphone with a foldable screen. It was a statement of intent for the format, and now comes the reinforcement of that commitment: we have the new Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
This second generation, which is nothing like the “Pixel Fold 2” as it is called, comes with more screen, a renewed design, especially for the rear camera module, and of course Google’s attempt to make its artificial intelligence Gemini.

A screen you will get stuck on
The format of this foldable device does not change in essence, but its design does: it is now noticeably larger, but at the same time somewhat narrower than the previous model.
Thus, when folded the Fold the external screen is 6.3 inches (maximum brightness up to 2,700 nits) like the Pixel 9, but when unfolded we will have a diagonal screen of 8 inches with a resolution of 2,076 x 2,152 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The maximum brightness of the lower screen is slightly lower but still noticeable, reaching 1,600 nits.
The thickness of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which is 10.5 mm when folded, is even more striking. only 5.1mm when deployed.
On the back we see the most distinguishing element of this model compared to the first Google Pixel Fold: the camera module, which groups them in two instead of grouping them in a single “row”. This module protrudes considerably, which is reasonable considering the aforementioned thinness of the terminal once deployed.
In the hardware department, there is the Google Tensor G4 that also features the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL. This device has 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage, giving the Gemini room to maneuver.
Cameras They are losing some ground compared to the Pixel 9 Pro/XLbut they still give hope. The main camera has a 48-megapixel sensor (f/1.7), an ultra-wide angle of 10.5 MP, a telephoto of 10.8 MP, and offers 5x optical zoom.
