Aston Martin was founded in 1913 by entrepreneurs and avid racing fans Robert Bamford and Lionel Martin. It was originally called Bamford & Martin.

They had already worked together selling cars for the British brand Singer, but in 1913 they formed their own company and began work on a high-end sports car to challenge brands like Bugatti.

Production of the first car began in 1914 but was delayed until 1915 due to the outbreak of World War I. Despite difficulties, including Bamford’s involvement in the war, the car was completed and eventually registered. March 16, 1915.

He didn’t have a name, but a nickname was soon added to him Coal Bucket Because of its crude design, it resembles a common household item of the time used to carry coal.

As Bamford & Martin built more and more cars, they eventually began to refer to this car as Chassis Number One (or A1 for short). The earliest known Aston Martin is chassis number three (or A3), built in 1921 and acquired by the Aston Martin Heritage Trust in 2002.

After the war, Bamford decided to retire from Bamford & Martin, transferring his shares to Martin’s wife, Kate Martin. The company’s arsenal still included the Coal Scuttle, which it used for promotional events, but He sold the car in 1924. Shortly thereafter, the company’s first car disappeared from the radarNothing has been heard about him so far.
