Crushed by rivals: Tesla Optimus looked like a complete loser at China robotics show

Tesla did not show itself at the robotics fair in any way

Not too long ago, Elon Musk decided that Tesla was not a car company. It was a robotics company that saw cars as a temporary way to make money until it could build humanoid robots and start selling them to everyone around it. In fact, the company’s CEO is betting Tesla’s entire future on this technology. But it seems that Optimus can’t keep up with the competition.

At the recent World Robotics Conference in Beijing, many companies introduced their robots. They cooked, played musical instruments, and even competed with children in board games. But Tesla did nothing of the sort. Instead, it left its Optimus in a cage behind glass. Yes, the company claims that its robots already work in car factories, so they should at least be able to do something, but they weren’t even taken out of the glass case to be shown in action.

The video published by CNBC journalists shows the whole situation:

World Robot Conference: video

While Chinese companies have been showing off humanoid robots that play instruments and serve water, Tesla’s robot has remained inactive. In all respects, this is the latest version of the design, and to be honest, this is exactly the area where the company is significantly ahead of all its competitors at the show. We see a very stylish body in black and white and a head that looks the most human among its analogues.

It’s unclear why Tesla decided not to hold a demo, given the company’s recent propensity to show off the Optimus on social media. Of course, some reporters were quick to comment It was assumed that the company was afraid of losing in the eyes of the audienceBecause it is claimed that its product cannot compete with the capabilities of other companies’ robots.

In Tesla’s defense, in one of the last videos we saw, the Optimus was pretty good at folding T-shirts:

Musk promises that we will be able to buy his robots soon, but it is not yet known when they will be available for sale.
