Huawei is not afraid of Apple and its success in China is the most likely reason for this. The Chinese company has already overtaken the iPhone in its home country with its HarmonyOS, which has a greater iOS presence, and the unstoppable Honor-Huawei duo. So much so that they dared to announce a presentation date for their triple-folding device just hours after Apple did the same with the iPhone 16.

To whet your appetite, Huawei has launched a small campaign teaser here he’s showing off the design of his gorgeous phone. It’ll drink from the Mate family – it’s actually a Mate – and once deployed it’ll last a very, very long time.

Huawei has shared a short video via Weibo showing off the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design, the name the company’s first tri-fold will go by. When closed, it looks like a completely normal device. It will inevitably be a bit thicker than the standard foldable.

That’s when the magic comes. We’re going to have a triple format that’s going to make this device much taller than normal. This is going to allow the OLED panels to grow up to 10 inches, a size that’s never been seen on a traditional phone. It’s going to be practically like having a tablet in your pocket.

The camera module, which is very similar to the one seen in the previous Mate generations, seems to have four sensors. Most likely the main sensor, an ultra-wide angle and a dual periscope. The chip that will give life to this phone made of synthetic leather and metal is not yet known. It is an open secret that it will be signed by Kirin.

The Mate XT Ultimate Design will be unveiled in China on September 10, but it’s not clear what its global status will be. Huawei’s commercial success in China has now seen it overtake rivals like Samsung in foldable sales. And if one phone is going to boost sales even further, it’s the tri-fold phone.
