According to a new report from TrendForce, AppleIt is expected to be presented as iPhone 16 ProAnd iPhone 16 Pro Max For the first time, the smaller Pro model is being replaced with a minimum of 256GB of storage, removing the initial 128GB option.
Currently 6.1 inches iPhone 15 Pro While Apple’s starting price is $999 and has a minimum of 128GB of storage, the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Pro Max starts at $1,199 with a minimum of 256GB of storage. Ahead of the iPhone 15 models’ launch, there were rumors that the ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ Max could start at $1,199, instead of the $1,099 starting price of the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
This turned out to be true, but only because Apple dropped the lower storage tier of 128GB. The iPhone 15 Pro Max currently starts at 256GB and is priced at $1,199, the same price Apple is charging for the 256GB iPhone 14 Pro Max. TrendForce, which is eagerly awaiting the upcoming iPhone 16 series, believes Apple will follow the same strategy for the iPhone 16 Pro model.
TrendForce bases its forecast on the following assumption: iPhone 16 Pro It will include a pricey tetraprism periscopic lens, a feature exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max last year. In other words, raising the minimum capacity to 256GB would allow Apple to pass the cost on to the consumer, reducing the impression of price increases.
TrendForce notes that consumer habits such as shooting and storing large amounts of high-resolution photos and videos, as well as downloading music and large-scale games, will continue to drive demand for average storage capacity, even if the price remains the same.
In 2018, Apple’s iPhone X came with 64GB of entry-level storage, which was available on successive generations of premium devices until the iPhone 12 Pro in 2020, when Apple adopted 128GB as its new baseline. The following year, all iPhone 13 models went on sale with a minimum of 128GB of storage. If Apple introduces a new minimum of 256GB for its premium devices this year, we could very well see that reach all models by 2025.
It is said that this year iPhone 16 Pro And iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a larger screen size, increasing to 6.27 and 6.86 inches respectively. For comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are equipped with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens, respectively. The new screen sizes will be the largest in iPhone history and will also increase the physical space for internal components and parts.
