It’s a long journey
The intrepid traveler’s plan is to see the Arctic Ocean and return. But the starting point is the state of Florida, so they have to cross the entire United States from south to north, and use the same route to cross Canada. And then I came back.
The team includes Justin Demari, known as “Tesla with a Beard,” Tesla influencer Rafael Santoni and his partner Nancy, and Tesla investor Gary Mark. They’re streaming the entire process on multiple social media platforms, where friends share updates as EV chargers run out and the weather cools down.
The entire path to the goal looks like this:
Before we get into what’s wrong with the Cybertruck, it’s worth remembering that Elon Musk Promises Tesla Pickup Truck Can Work on Every PlanetBy implication, Mars and even more so – in any corner of our home planet.
The site created to describe the trip, called “Arctic Cyberhike,” focuses most on the topic of charging cars. The authors describe it as a journey through North America’s emerging EV charging infrastructure. And that, as they say, It looks like a nightmare.
Justin Demaree takes videos every time he stops by the charging station. His regular chronicle shows How difficult is it to travel long distances with an electric car?. It stops approximately every two to three hours to recharge. Charging time and process varies greatly from stop to stop. Tesla-branded chargers are a great way to charge for this trip, but they may not always be available. And at a certain point in the north They don’t exist at all.
In one episode, they find the first charging station almost 250 kilometers away. It’s the only “hut” on the mountain in the far northwestern part of Canada, in a territory called the Yukon. Demari says the station is currently occupied by another person whose whereabouts are unknown, and his car only has three percent charge.
Other travelers aren’t doing so well. An August 27 video shot in a location where there are no Tesla charging stations, only public universal stations, shows viewers how difficult it is to charge the car. it literally refused to even start charging Coming from a station outside Tesla, Rafael and Nancy Santoni shivered in the cold outside. Is this how a car that costs over $100,000 should behave? Probably not. But they were lucky because managed to charge for the fifth time.
Despite all of these issues, there was one joyful moment. The group stopped on an Alaskan highway to charge both cars. There was only one plug, so they decided to daisy-chain the pickups and see if they could charge both at the same time. It worked.
