Apple has introduced four different models of the iPhone 16. Here we will explain in simple terms how they differ so you can choose the one that best suits your needs.
First of all, these are the four models:
iPhone 16
iPhone 16 Plus
iPhone 16 Pro
iPhone 16 Pro Max
There are two easy ways to categorize them by their last name: Pro ones are the most powerful, with the best design and cameras; Plus and Max mean they’re bigger.
But let’s go section by section.
Design: Pro is more durable and has metallic colors

The design difference between the iPhone 16 lies in the materials used and the available finishes. If we want a vibrant color, we will have to go for the iPhone 16 or iPhone 16 Plus; the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have metallic finishes because Titanium design.
While the iPhone 16 has an aluminum design and a tinted glass back, the iPhone 16 Pro has a titanium design and a textured matte glass back.
These are the endings:
iPhone 16 / iPhone 16 Plus: black, white, pink, turquoise and navy blue
iPhone 16 Pro / iPhone 16 Pro Max: black titanium, white titanium, natural titanium and desert titanium
Display: Pro has fewer bezels
This year, the Pro models have slightly larger screens than the standard iPhone 16, thanks to the reduced thickness of the edges. Why is this happening? For the first time ever, we have four iPhones in four different sizes screen. The dimensions look like this:
iPhone 16: 6.1 inches
iPhone 16 Pro: 6.3 inches
iPhone 16 Plus: 6.7 inches
iPhone 16 Pro Maximum: 6.9 inches
The panel is an OLED with a 460dpi equivalent resolution and a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits on all models. However, Pro panel adds 120Hz ProMotion and always on display. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus remain at 60Hz.
Performance and battery
Apple decided to introduce the A16 processor with the iPhone 15, while the iPhone 15 Pro had the A17 Pro chip. This year, they noticed the naming problem and decided to fix it. The iPhone 16 has the new A18 and the iPhone 16 Pro has the new A18 Pro.
What’s the difference? Both are manufactured using a second-generation 3-nanometer process, but A18 Pro has a more advanced GPU (6 cores and 5 cores). As Apple explains, the A18 Pro is what enables ProRes video recording, better image processing, and USB 3 compatibility.
Regarding the battery, Apple never confirms the official number of milliampere hours. We have official autonomy data and here the Pro models are ahead. This is the theoretical autonomy in video playback of the different models:
iPhone 16: up to 22 hours
iPhone 16 Plus: up to 27 hours
iPhone 16 Pro: up to 27 hours
iPhone 16 Pro Max: up to 33 hours
There is no difference between fast charging or wireless charging.
At the connectivity level, all new iPhone 16s offer WiFi 7, ultra-wideband, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.3. Pro models add dual-frequency GPS and LiDAR scanner.
Camera: the difference is due to wide angle and zoom
If you have two “eyes” it’s the iPhone 16 or iPhone 16 Plus. If you have three it’s because of the 5x telephoto lens, available only on the Pro models
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus have the same camera system. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max also have the same camera.
How are they different? Mostly in wide angle (larger) and telephoto lens (with special sensor)Here we leave you with a comparative chart of each sensor.

The processor improvement also applies to the Pro models. Record up to 40 at 120 fps with Dolby Vision.
One thing that all new iPhone 16s have added is a camera control button. The 12-megapixel front camera is also the same on all models.
As for the sound; Pro models have four microphones For recording with better sound.
Price: How much does each iPhone 16 model cost?
And of course another major difference is the price. Pro models are clearly more expensiveLikewise, the Plus and Max variants offer more screen and battery than their smaller siblings, increasing the price. As a result, the iPhone 16 Pro is more expensive than the iPhone 16 Plus despite being smaller.
The iPhone 16 Pro Max is not available in 128GB, so we leave you with a price comparison of the 256GB versions:
iPhone 16: 1,089 euros
iPhone 16 Plus: 1,239 euros
iPhone 16 Pro: 1,349 euros
iPhone 16 Pro Maximum: 1,469 Euros
As we can see, there is a difference of just over 100 euros between one series and the next higher one.
