The iPhone 16 series is now officially on sale both in Turkey and worldwide, and many Apple users are striving to be among the first iPhone 16 owners. After unboxing the first iPhone 16 Pro, the first drop test of the iPhone 16 Pro was published today.
The iPhone 16 Pro drop test results show just how durable the device is compared to the previous series. The drop test conducted by Sam Kohl of Apple Track also earns him the title of the first person to drop test the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro models. In fact, it’s Apple that’s making this test significant. So much so that Apple claimed that the iPhone 16 Pro has second-generation Ceramic Shield protection that is 50% stronger than the previous model.
In the first phase of the test we dropped the phones on their sides, near the trouser pocket. There was minor cosmetic damage to both phones. The second drop from chest level is interesting Caused more significant damage to the iPhone 16 Pro.
iPhone 16 Pro sustained more damage than iPhone 15 Pro
Next, the drop test was conducted from the head to the side and after this drop test, cracks were observed on the iPhone 16 Pro’s screen. Moreover, at this stage, the iPhone 15 Pro was still working, while the iPhone 16 Pro turned itself off. According to Kohl, iPhone 16 Pro, which has thin bezels, makes the screen of the new model more fragile.
During the other phases of the drop test, both phones developed cracks in the rear glass. While the iPhone 16 Pro’s display sustained more damage as it fell face-down, the iPhone 15 Pro proved more resilient. Ultimately, both models were being dropped from greater distances toward the end of the test, and it was at this point that the iPhone 15 Pro’s ceramic shield also succumbed to the test.
Looking at the test in general, as we just mentioned, the Ceramic Shield protection of the iPhone 16 Pro seems stronger than the protection of the first generation, but as the tests show, the new model may be more fragile in some situations because the display frames are thinner. At the end of the test, Kohl recommends iPhone users to buy a protective case for their devices.
