Many upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400 flagships will feature much larger batteries than their predecessors. However, while battery life is expected to increase, many are concerned about the weight and usability of the upcoming flagships.

According to previous rumors, the Oppo Find X8 has a 5,700mAh battery, which is a significant improvement over the 5,000mAh battery of the previous model. Comments have emerged on social networks asking whether the weight exceeds 200 grams. In the latest news, the product manager of the Oppo Find X8 series shared an image confirming that the phone weighs less than 200 grams despite the larger battery.

He noted that the Oppo Find N2 is one of the first devices to focus on a weight reduction strategy. The company is reportedly adopting similar strategies to reduce the weight of the Oppo Find X8 series. We can expect the Find X8 Pro and Find X8 Ultra to be lighter than expected, especially when talking about the base model.

So how is that possible? Oppo is using high-density silicon anode batteries for the Find X8 series. For those who don’t know, this is the same battery technology used to make ultra-thin batteries for phones like the Honor Magic V3. It was previously revealed that Oppo’s new battery technology delivers a higher energy density (an industry-leading 763Wh/L) compared to traditional graphite batteries. For comparison, the Oppo Find X7 weighs 202g with a 5000mAh battery.

In terms of performance, both the Oppo Find X8 and Find X8 Pro will be powered by the Dimensity 9400 chipset, which has been officially confirmed ahead of its October 9 launch. This chipset is said to have significantly improved graphics performance over its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and the A18 Pro powered by the iPhone 16 Pro. So, along with the bigger battery, users can expect a decent improvement in gaming performance compared to the Oppo Find X7.
