Huawei Consumer BG board chairman Richard Yu has already announced that the public beta of the company’s HarmonyOS NEXT operating system will start on October 8. Now, the supply chain is hinting that the company may launch the Huawei Mate 70 series in November this year. However, no exact launch date has been announced yet.
The news comes after a report from Yicai Global claimed that many components for the Mate 70 series have already been supplied to Huawei. This means that the phone is close to mass production, if it hasn’t already started. The report also noted that mass production is expected to begin before China’s Mid-Autumn Festival, which usually falls between mid-September and early October. According to industry sources, the Mate 70 series is likely to be launched in November this year.
For context: The Huawei Mate 60 series was introduced at the end of August last year and launched at the beginning of September. It was previously assumed that the delayed launch of this year’s flagship was related to the development of the HarmonyOS NEXT operating system.
In summary, the Huawei Mate 60 and Mate 60 Pro were the first devices to make headlines thanks to the company’s proprietary 7nm chipset. Since then, Huawei has released several devices with improved versions of the chipset. The Mate 70 series is said to be powered by the Kirin 9100 chipset, which is expected to offer better performance than its predecessor. It will be interesting to see what the Mate 70 series can achieve with the new operating system. Zhu Yonggang, head of Mobile Cloud, claims that HarmonyOS NEXT has achieved in one year what Android and iOS have achieved in “17 years.”
According to a recent leak from DCS, the Huawei Mate 70 prototype features a central 3D facial recognition system on the quad-curved display. While previous leaks have hinted at an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, DCS claims that the series will integrate the fingerprint sensor into the power button and use a flat design for the metal mid-frame. Since this design information contradicts previous rumors, it’s best to take this with a grain of salt.
