Samsung’s Galaxy S “Fan Edition” (FE) series has become a solid choice for those looking for a taste of flagship features without the flagship price. The company introduced the new member of the series, Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, which offers a familiar design but has some important updates.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE review

Visually, the S24 FE is not much different from its predecessor. It retained the sleek, nearly bezel-less design with a centered, punch-hole camera for 12-megapixel selfies. The display remains a large 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a smooth refresh rate of up to 120Hz. This means you’ll get great viewing angles and fast responses when browsing the web, playing games, and watching videos.

The biggest change is in the processor. The S24 FE is powered by the all-new Exynos 2400e processor, the first Exynos processor in the electronics series. Samsung hasn’t provided details about the core configuration or clock speed, but it’s likely to be a slightly downgraded version of the regular Exynos 2400. Most importantly, Samsung will ship the phone with Exynos, as there are no regional variants of the chip. 2400e everywhere.

As for the camera, there are three on the back alongside the 50MP main sensor. The wide-angle camera has a resolution of 12 MP, while the third sensor on the back is an 8 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Selfies are handled by the 10-megapixel camera on the front panel.

The S24 FE also includes Samsung’s ProVisual camera engine for the first time in an FE series phone. It improves night shooting, optimizes colors in photos and videos with ultra-high dynamic range, and increases the quality of the main sensor by 50 MP.

Don’t forget that you’ll also get all the Galaxy AI photo editing features like Productive Editing, Portrait Studio, Editing Suggestions, and Instant Slow Motion. The software is driven by One UI 6.1 based on Android 14. In addition to the 7-year version of the platform, it will also receive security updates.

Compared to the previous model, the Galaxy S24 FE has a larger battery of 4700 mAh. When it’s time to recharge, the phone supports 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. Following the trend of the S24 series, the S24 FE body contains recycled materials. This includes plastic, aluminum, glass and even rare earth elements. It is IP68 dust and water resistant and features 5G, Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.3 for connectivity.

Availability and prices

You can pre-order the phone now and it will hit store shelves on October 3. The base model with 128GB of storage costs $649.99. That’s a $50 increase over last year’s S3FE, which started at $599.99. The colors of the device include Blue, Graphite, Grey, Mint and Yellow.
