According to information received from the fire department, one person in the vehicle was injured as a result of the fall. Local publication Globo writes that the woman was rescued with minor injuries. No one on the ground was injured.

Videos of the moment of the fall immediately began to appear on the Internet. The first of these was a Reddit user nicknamed edugabao, who showed the crash from very close range.

Footage taken from a greater distance shows the airship rapidly descending to a low area and then losing air.

It was rumored to be a test flight to promote the São Paulo Futebol Club before the team plays Wednesday night in the Copa Libertadores, a South American competition featuring football organizations from across the continent. Ironically, the team was also completely “broken” – losing to rivals Botafogo de Futebol and Regatas from Rio de Janeiro.

Local authorities said they were investigating the cause of the incident.
