It was expected SAMSUNG It will use the Exynos 2500 chipset Galaxy S25 and S25+ in most markets. However, recent rumors claim that the chipset will not be used in any of the three S series flagships that will be released in the first quarter of 2025. Instead, the company will reportedly use the chipset to power the S25 FE and next-generation Galaxy foldable devices.
The reason why the launch of the new Exynos chip has been so delayed is reportedly due to only 55% performance, which is well below the previous target of 70%.
For those who don’t know, yield is the percentage of functional chips produced from a plate compared to the maximum number of chips that can be produced on that plate. This is an important indicator that measures the efficiency of the production process.
Although using Exynos 2500 in the S25 FE seems expected, we cannot say the same for Samsung’s more advanced devices. They have historically run on Snapdragon chips, so switching to Exynos could hurt their popularity due to the track record of previous Exynos chips.
Just a few days ago, Samsung launched the Galaxy S24 FE with a slightly lower clocked version of the Exynos 2400 chipset. However, the source claims that the Galaxy S25 FE will be released much earlier than expected, in April this year. For context, Samsung launched the Galaxy S23 FE around this time in 2023.
The Exynos 2500 chipset will be based on Samsung’s 3 nm process. However, there is limited information about its effectiveness. As with every new version of Exynos chips, the Exynos 2500 is said to offer significantly higher performance and power efficiency compared to both the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400. But based on past experience, users can wait for the official Samsung update. Instead of relying on speculative claims about the performance of the upcoming Exynos chipset.
