MediaTek has launched its 2024 flagship chipset Dimensity 9400, which will power many flagship Android devices launching in October, including the Oppo Find X8 and vivo X200 series.
Weibo user WhyLab tested before launch Oppo Find X8 Pro against iPhone 16 Pro In Genshin Impact. For those who don’t know, it is a resource-intensive game that is often used to measure the raw performance capabilities of flagship devices.
Find X8 Pro maintains maximum performance for 30 minutes
This was a 30-minute test in which the Dimensity 9400-based flagship achieved an average frame rate of 60.44fps, while the iPhone 16 Pro achieved an average frame rate of 47.48fps. Although the iPhone’s score didn’t seem too bad, there was some stuttering when the frame rate dropped below 35 fps. By comparison, the Find X8 Pro dropped below 50fps only once. This shows just how powerful the new Dimensity flagship is.
But gaming (or any sustained workload) also depends heavily on power efficiency. While the Find X8 Pro reached a temperature of 47.7°C, the iPhone remained at 45.9°C.
The difference may be due to two main factors. First, the D2400 offers a much higher frame rate, which requires more resources. Secondly, the thermal design of the Oppo Find X8 and the iPhone is very different. The Oppo device uses a more efficient heat dissipation system that effectively transfers heat from the processor to the surroundings through the surface. Devices with better heat dissipation may actually feel warmer on the surface, even if they both produce the same amount of heat.
Based on the combination of battery capacity and battery life we’ve seen on the iPhone 16 Pro so far, we’d say it’s more energy efficient. However, Oppo Find X8 Pro offers a much better gaming experience.
Oppo’s flagship is said to have a 5,800mAh battery and is expected to offer significantly faster charging than the iPhone 16 Pro, making it a better choice for those looking for a gaming device. On the other hand, the phone has a 6.82-inch 1.5K micro-curved OLED display and a flagship camera system on the back.
