Following in Apple’s footsteps, the Oppo company has equipped the new iPhone 16 with a button to interact with the camera located on the side surface of the smartphone case. A similar solution from Oppo is called Quick Capture and is a touch button for quick access to the camera. It will appear on the new smartphones of the Find X8 series.

Now a small video has appeared on the internet in which the Oppo Find product manager demonstrates the working of the Quick Capture function. You need to press the button twice to launch the camera, and a long press allows you to take a photo. You can also control the zoom by scrolling the button.

The main reason for the appearance of the Quick Shot button is that it is not always convenient to take photos by pressing the smartphone screen. The video in question is dedicated to using a smartphone under water, where it is difficult to press the screen. Find X8 smartphones will receive protection against dust and moisture according to the IP68 standard, which will allow them to be used in water. In the video, it is emphasized that working with the button on the side surface of the case is useful in both horizontal and vertical directions.

Note that Oppo has already implemented a similar function in the Find X7 Ultra with its custom ColorOS 14 interface. Double-clicking the volume control button also allows you to launch the camera. After that, the volume rocker can be used to control zoom, although it’s not as smooth as scrolling.
