The problems never end with the iPhone 16 series: now the phones are starting to freeze!

Although Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models were released not too long ago, they are on the agenda of unexpected freezing and restarting issues among users.

There have been many discussions about these issues on Reddit and Apple’s support forums for a while now. Users experiencing the issue, their phone suddenly freezes and then restarts on its own states.

Updates do not solve the problem

The first reports emerged shortly after the iPhone 16 models were released in September, but they were few and far between. What Apple released in this process iOS 18.0.1 and iOS 18.1 updates were also insufficient to fix the problem. Users report that their devices are still experiencing the same issues despite installing the latest software updates.

The problems are thought to occur randomly. In some cases, the screen suddenly becomes unresponsive or the touchscreen responds very slowly to commands and the device restarts immediately. Some users even claim that their iPhone restarts unexpectedly even in standby mode.

iPhone 16 Pro models freeze and restart on their own

Although some users who signed up with Apple received new phones from Apple to resolve the issue, the same issue is reported to be repeating on these devices. The majority of complaints occur on the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models. Therefore, it is believed that the error may be limited to these models.

Although the problem does not occur at the same frequency for every user, some users report that their phone crashes 10 to 20 times a day. Interestingly, some people report that they experience no problems when they reset their phones and start using them without restoring from iCloud backups. This suggests that the error may be related to iCloud backups, but there has been no official statement from Apple.
