The company recently launched Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition only in South Korea. This model, which is the larger and thinner version of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, has a 200MP camera but does not support S Pen. A report from Galaxy Club states that Samsung is working on two new Galaxy Z Fold 7 models codenamed “Q7” and “Q7M”.
The Q7M is of particular interest as it is allegedly linked to a potential three-story design. Rumors from South Korea suggest that Samsung is testing new folding mechanisms, including a model that may have three panels and two hinges. However, it is not yet clear whether the Q7M will be the expected triangle or will be developed separately under a different codename.
Reports also suggest that Samsung may be planning to introduce a triple foldable model next year. If launched, the device will allow the company to catch up with rivals like Huawei, which has already showcased similar designs with the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate. Tri-folding could potentially increase productivity and media consumption by offering a larger tablet-like screen when fully opened.
In terms of performance, although details about the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s chipset are yet to be confirmed, the track record of the Z series suggests that it will use Qualcomm’s 2024 flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Not to mention, the next-generation complex device is expected to offer significant improvements in performance and power efficiency, potentially improving multitasking and battery life.
Although details of the Q7M remain secret, a camera upgrade is also expected. If the latest special version follows the Fold’s design spirit, it could feature a 200MP sensor that provides excellent photography capabilities.
