New accessories now have USB-C
Apple went the hard way with the introduction of USB-C. Smartphones, tablets, and watches have endured long and hard, while Macs have had them for a long time. However, since European Union laws could not be repealed or circumvented, the manufacturer had to give up the Lightning standard. So the last two years were devoted to the gradual transfer of all devices to the new standard. 9to5Mac writes that it’s finally time for the keyboard, mouse and trackpad.
Apple has kept the Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse in the latest iMac M4 almost the same as before. There was no radical change in the design. But more importantly, every accessory now uses USB-C for charging instead of Lightning.
Learn more about Magic Keyboard
There’s currently only one new Magic Keyboard with USB-C available in the Apple Store: a model with Touch ID and a numeric keypad. This has led to some confusion about whether other trim levels are available without the numpad and Touch ID, or with just one or the other.
The good news is that you’ll be able to purchase more variants of the Magic Keyboard in the future.
Here’s the full list of USB-C Magic Keyboard options:
Magic Keyboard for $99. Compact model without Touch ID and digital block. Magic Keyboard with Touch ID for $149. A compact model with Touch ID but without a digital block. Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad is $179 for white, $199 for black. It’s the largest, most versatile keyboard and the only one available in two colors.
The new M4 iMac comes with accessories, but you can also buy them separately.
Magic Mouse
The new Magic Mouse is also equipped with USB-C, but almost impossible to believe, Apple ignored its users’ anger about the location of the charging port: still below. This is extremely inconvenient, because the mouse needs to be left aside for a while to charge, since it is impossible to use a device with a wire coming out vertically from the bottom of the case.

Users were hoping this launch would be used as an opportunity to remove the charging port from the bottom of the device for nearly a decade. But he’s neither mocking nor asking for corporate jobs – the port is still there. Companies have previously even offered to build MagSafe into the device; so users can place the device under the table, or even inside the table if its design allows, and continuously charge the mine while in use.
This new Magic Mouse is worth it It’s worth $99.
