Elektrek says this ship is a breakthrough in both environmental sustainability and efficiency of bulk water transport and sets the benchmark for future maritime innovations.

Candela P-12 stands out in the industry with many important advantages over traditional diesel ferries. Specifically, the ferry operates from: minimum noise level and creates only small waves due to hydrofoil technology. This design emphasis is particularly important within city limits, where strict regulations often limit the height of waves on certain routes.

Candela P-12 can improve speed up to 46 km/hThis allows it to pass through Stockholm’s canals faster than normal ferries. In overwater mode, the ferry can overcome waves up to one meter high, and in underwater hydrofoil mode up to two metres, it provides passengers with a smooth, stable journey even in harsh conditions.

  • Offering a capacity of 30 passengers and the ability to carry additional luggage, the design of Candela P-12 provides an efficient and comfortable journey. Operated by one crew, the ferry has a carrying capacity of 3,000 kg and a weight of 10,000 kg.
  • It is powered by four traction batteries, each with a capacity of 63 kWh and providing a range of 74 km.
  • The batteries can be charged at a 175 kW DC station and can be charged from 10% to 85% in just 45 minutes.
  • Operating on the 15 km Stockholm route, Candela P-12 can compete with conventional diesel ferries in terms of comfort, while offering significantly lower operating costs per passenger and significant environmental benefits.
