The latest generation flagship smartphones are launching with high-end chips such as Dimensity 9400 and Snapdragon 8 Elite. But there is another trend that is becoming increasingly common among premium phones. For added security, flagship phones are now equipped with ultrasonic fingerprint scanners, and it looks like the Huawei Mate 70 series could be one of them.
Huawei Mate 70 series is equipped with an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner
The news comes from Weibo’s well-known tipster Smart Pikachu. The leak claims that the Chinese tech giant’s upcoming Mate 70 series will use an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner similar to the recently introduced OnePlus 13. Smart Pikachu claims that Huawei’s Mate 70 series will feature this technology for enhanced security. An online report also claims that future Ultra flagships (excluding Huawei smartphones) are expected to launch with Qualcomm’s ultrasonic fingerprint sensors next year.
Let us remind you that many models of the Ultra series are expected to be introduced to the market in the coming months. This includes the Oppo Find X8 Ultra, Xiaomi 15 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and Vivo X200 Ultra. There are more Ultra brand phones that are likely to support this technology. This is all the information shared in the post on Weibo. Recently, the camera layout of the Mate 70 series was revealed in a new leak.
There are also rumors that the Mate 70 may be offered with dual operating systems. The primary operating system is the new HarmonyOS Next, while the secondary operating system may have Android support. Since HarmonyOS Next is a major upgrade that forces Huawei to abandon Android entirely, it would make sense to retain some form of support for the more popular Android platform. This is all the information we have for now, stay tuned.
