Widely used on Apple, Mac and iOS platforms acquires photo editing app Pixelmator.
Although Pixelmator confirmed in a statement on its blog site that it has been purchased by Apple, the company stated that with this acquisition it aims to reach a broader user base and have a greater impact on the lives of creative people around the world. The Pixelmator team made the following statements regarding the details of the acquisition:
“Pixelmator has signed an agreement to be acquired by Apple, subject to regulatory approval. There will be no significant changes to the applications at this stage. Stay tuned for exciting updates.”
The acquisition of Pixelmator has not yet gone through the legal process

Although Apple bought Pixelmator, the Lithuania-based company had to come under Apple’s umbrella. The necessary regulatory approval process is underway. While the company does not provide further details on this matter, it is a known fact that some major deals in the technology world have recently been disrupted due to regulatory pressure.
For example, although Microsoft had a successful acquisition of Activision Blizzard, NVIDIA’s acquisition of Arm, Amazon’s iRobot, and Adobe’s acquisition of Figma were hit by many obstacles.
What is Apple planning with Pixelmator?

Apple’s past acquisitions provide some clues about the future of this new acquisition.
For example, Dark Sky, the weather application that Apple purchased in 2020, was closed two years later and its technology was integrated into Apple’s own weather application. It is currently unclear whether this situation will also occur in Pixelmator.
