The company’s CEO, Elon Musk, said on the Joe Rogan podcast that Tesla may release a smartphone but is not working on it yet. Musk said Tesla would launch the phone if Google and Apple censored the billionaire-run companies’ apps.
“No, we’re not making phones,” Musk said, adding that Tesla is probably better positioned than other companies to produce a smartphone that isn’t Android and iOS, pointing to the automaker’s software.
“But we don’t want to do that unless we have to or something else,” he added.
