How did it happen?

This is reportedly the first such missile in almost a year. The launch took place between 30 and 31 October and was probably not coincidental at the time. The US and Japanese governments confirmed the information and said the missile rose to altitude. 7000 kilometersAccording to Channel 24’s report, based on Associated Press, The Washington Post and Space.com, this figure is 805 kilometers more than the previous record set by North Korea in 2022.

It is worth noting that 7,000 kilometers is a very large distance. For comparison, the International Space Station is kept at an altitude of 400-410 kilometers above the planet’s surface.

  • In May 2017, North Korea launched a missile with a range of 2,092 kilometers.
  • July 4, 2017 – 2,800 kilometers.
  • July 28, 2017 – 3,701 kilometers.
  • November 29, 2017 – 4,500 kilometers.
  • Afterwards, there was a long break.
  • On March 24, 2022, another ballistic missile flew to an altitude of 6,195 kilometers.
  • On March 15, 2023, another ballistic missile flew to an altitude of 6,000 kilometers.
  • July 12, 2023 – again 6,000 kilometers.

Journalists have not yet named the type of ICBM used this time. The last such launch was with the Hwasong-18 missile, which was used at least three times during the tests.

The launch took place “just hours after US and South Korean defense officials condemned Pyongyang’s troop deployment to Russia,” WP wrote. Kim Jong Un was reportedly present throughout the entire process. He later issued a statement saying the tests were “an appropriate military action” because North Korea’s “enemies” were “deliberately escalating the situation in the region.”
