Apple has expanded its list of older and older products by adding more iPhone and Apple Watch models. On the company’s website iPhone And iPhone 6S Plus now marked “vintage”. The update was spotted by MacRumors, which noted that the 32GB iPhone 6S Plus was previously classified as “obsolete.” Additionally, the company has not yet added the smaller iPhone XS and iPhone 6S models to its “vintage” list.


For reference, iPhone It was launched in September 2018 and was discontinued with the launch of the iPhone 11 series in September 2019. It was the successor to the iPhone X with a notch design with a larger 6.46-inch display.

iPhone it supported fast charging out of the box, but it initially came with a low-power 5W Apple charger. The device also made headlines after users were disturbed by the extreme effects of smooth skin in selfie photos. The issue, known as “Beautygate”, was later fixed by Apple with a software update.

Additionally, Apple Watch Series 2 models made of aluminum and stainless steel are now included in the “obsolete” list. However, the Cupertino-based giant is yet to launch a premium Series 2 model with a ceramic body. According to Apple’s own statement, a device is called “vintage” if it has been out of production for five years but less than seven years. The device is considered “obsolete” seven years after Apple stopped selling it on the market.

Owners of older Apple devices can have them serviced by Apple or an authorized service provider if parts are available. This does not apply to older products as Apple has discontinued all hardware services and service providers are not allowed to order parts. The only exception is that the MacBook may qualify for an extended battery-only repair period of up to 10 years.
